The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank sponsors the mobile distribution program called Fresh Express. The Food Bank partners with Host Organizations such as local and county Housing Authorities, member agencies, and other social service organizations to facilitate the distributions. Fresh Express is a supplemental produce and surplus distribution and is not intended to be the only source of food for an individual or family. Consumers are advised to seek additional food pantry services within their community if need be.
The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank Fresh Express model is designed to be an independent distribution for fresh and healthy food. The product is delivered to the permanent host site just-in-time for a community distribution. The Fresh Express food, which is available at no charge to the agency, can augment the other food acquired by the agency with shared maintenance fees. The intended purpose is to provide fresh perishable product to be distributed the day of delivery to eligible clients. Clients are considered eligible for this program after properly completing all necessary paperwork as required.
